About: Frankincense is also known as olibanum. Similar to the way trees are tapped for the making of maple syrup, the bark of the Boswellia tree is slashed and the resin is allowed to drip out and harden. This is what is known as Frankincense tears. The essential oil is richer, deeper and sweeter in smell than the resin it comes from and has been used in perfumery and to make incense. It is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as one of the consecrated incenses. It is still used today for spiritual purposes.
Safety Warnings: Avoid during pregnancy
