Candle - Orishas

Our Orisha candles are created with herbs and oils that are associated with each Orisha along with their traditional candle colors.

Orishas are spirits who play an important role in the Yoruba religion of West Africa, as well as several African diaspora faiths such as Cuban, Dominican, and Puerto Rican Santera, and Brazilian Candomblé. The orishas are a pantheon of gods and goddesses in the Afro-Caribbean religion of Santeria. They are the messengers of Olodumare, the creator of the universe. Each orisha is associated with a particular aspect of life, such as love, wisdom, war, agriculture, and healing.

The orishas are often represented as human beings with specific personality traits and powers. For example, Oshun is the goddess of love and beauty, and is associated with the color yellow. Ogun is the god of war and iron, and is associated with the color red.

The orishas are spirits sent by the supreme creator, Olodumare, to assist humans and teach them how to succeed on Ayé, according to the teachings of various faiths (Earth). Most orishas are claimed to have previously resided in òrún – the spirit realm – before becoming Irúnmọlẹ̀ – spirits or divine beings incarnated as human on Earth, according to Yoruba theology. Irunmole assumed a human identity and lived in the physical world as regular people, but because they sprang from the divine, they possessed enormous wisdom and power at the time of their creation.

Some followers and practitioners of the Ifá religion, from which the orisha pantheon system derives, believe that orishas are a separate class of supernatural beings who got deified, divinized, or transformed after leaving their human form on Earth.
