First of all, thank you for your interest in becoming a guest reader at aromaG’s Botanica. We look forward to having a fun and interesting evening with you.
How do you promote the event?
We will promote you through our Facebook page, on the local Psychic Meetup group, and inside our store, as well as setting up a Facebook event which we will share with you. We encourage you to become actively involved in promoting your guest appearance as a reader. Make sure to spread the word online where you can and share the Facebook event to your friends list. We have seen from experience the greater response that comes from promotion. Most readers who have promoted themselves online perform 3 to 4 times more readings than those who did not.
What is the fee for being a guest reader?
You, as the guest reader, keep 75% of all of your reading fees and 100% of your tips from the reading. The shop receives 25% of each reading, which you pay at the end of the night.
How much should I charge?
Readers may set their own rates for their services. However, we can tell you that the majority of the readers charge a rate of $2.00 per minute (in 5 minute increments) and it has worked out quite well so far. In our past experience, most customers will choose a 15 minute ($30) or 30 minutes ($60) reading, based on that rate. However, once again, you may choose to set your own rates.
How does it work?
The customer comes to our checkout counter to let us know who they would like a reading with and for how long. Each reader for the evening has their own signup sheet where we log the guest check-ins. For example, Jane Doe says she would like a 15 minute reading with you — our guest reader. So, we record that Jane got a 15 minute reading from you. It is up to you to let us know about any corrections that need to be made to this after EACH of your readings. If Jane only stayed 10 minutes or her reading became 20 minutes, we need to adjust your sheet to correctly tally your earnings. Also, have the customer let us know the approximate time they want for their reading allows us to tell other guests how long the wait for you will be.
Who takes care of the money?
You, the reader, collect all fees/money from the client/customer. At the end of the night, you pay your 25% hosting fee to the shop. If you do not have the ability to take credit cards, please let us know when you sign up to be a reader so that we may indicate “cash only” on your advertisments, allowing clients to come prepared. There are many easy options now for accepting credit cards through merchant services such as: PayPal, Square, etc. You will find that you will get more and longer readings by accepting credit cards. However, it is not a requirement. Just be sure to let us know in advance.
Where will I be reading and what do I need to bring?
As the guest, you will be reading for clients in the private reading/treatment room where you will find a reading table and two chairs. Feel free to bring your own props if it makes you more comfortable such as: a tapestry or reading cloth, your own special candles, your business cards/brochures, etc. The table does come already covered in a cloth. But feel free to make the table “your own” for the evening. We do ask, however, that you do not rearrange the room.
When do you have guest readers?
At the current time, we host guest readers on Friday nights during our “Metaphysical Fridays” event. The time frame for the readings begins at 4:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. If you cannot be there at 4:00, please let us know so that we can let customers know when to expect your readings to start. An in-house reader will begin taking appointments at 4:00 p.m. so that customers do not have to wait. The owner of the shop, Roy and Greg, are both readers who also read for clients on Friday evenings. However, we DO try to encourage the customers to seek out YOU, our guest reader, first.
What kind of readers are you looking for?
Your talent does not have to be card reading, although many of our guests are Tarot or Oracle card readers. Other guests have also been: palm readers, intuitive readers (no cards, etc.), mediums, astrologers, automatic writers, etc. Please let us know your specialties and how you plan to read for the customers.
Can I perform Reiki or Energy Work that evening?
Unfortunately, these types of services are not the theme of our “Metaphysical Fridays” and take up a longer block of time, which often turns away those who are waiting to see you that evening. The massage table in the reading room is not a part of the facilities for the evening — simply the table and chairs in the room. Our event is more about people seeking answers to questions, which they can usually find in something such as a Tarot reading.
Do I have to be experienced?
Some experience in reading for clients is helpful and desired. For example, if you must still consult the booklet that came with your cards — you might not be ready to become a guest reader quite yet. We want to provide our customers/clients the best experience possible when they attend our events.
What IS aromaG’s Botanica?
aromagregory soap & tea company has been our main business since 1999, focusing on: aromatherapy, essential oils, teas, herbs, soaps, and natural body care. It was always our intention to open a second location that was simply a New Age/Metaphysical shop. In 2014, we decided to incorporate that idea into our EXISTING store and “nicknamed” aromagregory ‘aromaG’s Botanica.’ When you enter our shop you will see that the two concepts have blended together beautifully into one eclectic-botanica-boutique, offering something for everyone. We have been located at 223 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214 for over 11 years.
Do you need anything else from me to be a reader?
In order to promote you, we will need a digital photo of you and a 1 to 2 paragraph written biography of you, describing your history/services/experience/techniques, etc. If you need help with this, don’t worry — we’re good editors.
