loose Black Tea selections
Black tea is a classic choice in all parts of the world. It does contain caffeine but the amount is less than half of what you will find in ground coffee. We offer a wide variety of black teas that fall into almost every flavor profile – in other words, we have something for everyone.
Black tea is a type of tea that is more oxidized than oolong, green and white teas. All four types are made from leaves of the shrub (or small tree) Camellia sinensis. Black tea is generally stronger in flavor than the less oxidized teas. Two principal varieties of the species are used – the small-leaved Chinese variety plant (C. sinensis subsp. sinensis), used for most other types of teas, and the large-leaved Assamese plant (C. sinensis subsp. assamica), which was traditionally mainly used for black tea, although in recent years some green and white have been produced.

Most commercially available black teas are blends of black teas from several (or many) origins. Popular black tea blends include English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast and China Black.
Many black tea blends are flavored with fruit, flowers and spices. Classic flavored black tea blends include Earl Grey (which is flavored with bergamot essential oil or citrus flavor), Masala Chai (which is blended with various spices ) and fruit or flower-scented black teas (such as Lavender Black Tea and Lychee Black Tea.)
