Thanks for your post- it was just what I was searching for. I'm a natural soap maker, but encountered a person today at a craft fair selling lotion with no preservative. He was very proud of that fact, and was using it as a selling feature- as if making a SAFELY preserved lotion was a bad thing!! (another person sharing misinformation!!!) It upset me! When I shared what I know about needing a preservative in a water based product, he said he had a microbiology degree and doubted what I said was true. You made the statement in your blog that the FDA requires a preservative for cosmetics that aren't soap. I want to email him that info, but haven't been able to find it on the FDA's site. It's non porous and easy to clean because it is seamless. Even my stir sticks are lab glass stir rods. It's a little expensive but it's worth it to invest in this equipment.
